Dicta was the old bookshop owned by Nils Simonsson and Kerstin Simonsson. It doubled as a gateway to the alternate dimension Gothia. It was one of the few safe portal between the two worlds, and is far heavier guarded on the Gothia side where the surrounding building almost resemble a temple and is patrolled by soldiers.

Dicta had a few seats in a corner of the store, but the shelves had been arranged as a labyrinth in order to squeeze in as many books as possible and make it more confusing to customers, as the owners get economical compensation from Gothia and therefore aren't relying on sales.

The Simonssons lived in an apartment above the bookshop and there was a small kitchenette behind a drapery in the back, as the couple was elderly and didn't want to go in he stairs too often. From behind aforementioned drapery you could also get to the minuscule room where the portal was. When Alvan first started working at Dicta the couple cluttered up the kitchenette as a storage room to keep him from the portal.

The portal was designed as area-affecting and rune-bound, in other words a circle drawn on the ground surrounded with stabilizing runes around it. It emitted a faint light, but according to Vígi all that fancy work was really just an elaborate way of saying "if you cross this line you only have yourself to blame".
